Not the cheap option. The right one.
Colombia isn't a discount version of American healthcare. On the metrics that matter — WHO rankings, JCI accreditation, surgeon training — it beats a lot of what you'd pay full price for at home.
Global healthcare ranking
Colombia ranked #22 globally — and #1 in the Western Hemisphere — in the World Health Organization's assessment of national health system performance. Ahead of Canada (#30), Australia (#32), Sweden (#23), and the United States (#37).
WHO World Health Report 2000JCI-accredited hospitals
Joint Commission International is the same standards body that accredits U.S. teaching hospitals. Fourteen Colombian hospitals meet its bar — including Fundación Valle del Lili, Hospital Pablo Tobón Uribe, Fundación Santa Fe de Bogotá, and Clínica Las Américas Auna.
Joint Commission International directoryReTHUS-registered surgeons
Every surgeon we work with is registered in ReTHUS — Colombia's Registro Único Nacional del Talento Humano en Salud. It's a public registry: you can look up your surgeon's ID, training, and licensure status before you fly.
Ministerio de Salud y Protección Social, ColombiaTypical savings vs U.S. cash prices
Even after airfare and a two-week stay, most procedures land 50–70% below U.S. cash-pay pricing. The math shifts less for major surgery with long recoveries — but for BBL, dental, IVF, hair, and LASIK, the gap is dramatic.

How we vet — the non-negotiables.
JCI accreditation, ISO 9001, or Colombian Ministry of Health Category I. We prefer the first two. No cosmetic-only clinics for major surgery.
ReTHUS registration is table stakes. We also verify board certification with the relevant Colombian society (e.g., SCCP for plastic surgery), and require the surgeon perform the procedure at least 100 times per year.
Subcutaneous-only fat placement. No intramuscular injection under any circumstances. This is the single largest safety signal in cosmetic tourism, and it's non-negotiable.
Preimplantation genetic testing scoped strictly to chromosomal aneuploidy and known genetic disease screening. We do not facilitate sex selection or family balancing.
INVIMA-regulated protocols only. Evidence-level disclosures on every treatment. If it isn't backed by at least Level 3 clinical evidence, we won't send you to it.
What you're quoted is what you pay. No hidden facilitator markup. Our fee comes from the clinic as a partner referral, disclosed on request.
